This Summer, I worked with a special team of ladies to create a dream day at one of my all-time favorite locations – Montage Palmetto Bluff. I first visited this magical place three years ago and couldn’t wait to come back. I revisited this Spring, getting the full tour of the endless possibilities that can be created on this property for client’s weddings. Once I had finished with a special Charleston Wedding in April, I couldn’t wait to get back to the Lowcountry.
Montage Palmetto Bluff is the perfect location for a destination wedding which is why it was my first choice location for this project. Between the hotel (and their stunning guest rooms, suites, and cottages) there are also homes on property available to rent. All of your guests can experience the Palmetto Bluff village by bicycle, golf cart, or on foot. The Montage staff and service is always topnotch and the views (everywhere) are breathtaking. The ability to host all of your guests on property makes Montage Palmetto Bluff one of the most popular destination for Northern couples looking to host their guests in an incredibly unique, Southern destination.
More and more couples are looking for a destination wedding experience where their guests can stay together and they can offer them multiple activities throughout the weekend. At the Montage, there are so many event spaces (indoors and out) that look and feel different so you are offering your guests a variety of experiences throughout the weekend. One of my favorite options for your Welcome Dinner is having your guests hop on a boat and head over to the Moreland Landing for an oyster roast.
For your Ceremony- there are two stunning chapels on property that are the most darling, charming spaces to get married in. One chapel on the May River and one near the main hotel building. For your Reception, you can go in to one of their beautiful ballroom spaces (with porches – which we used!!) or use the main lawn. Honestly there are so many beautiful options depending on your group size and the experience you’re looking to provide your guests.
When thinking about hosting a destination wedding, hiring a planner is key in making sure you have the day of your dreams. From pointing you in the right direction for your venue to giving you only the best vendor recommendations, a wedding planner will put your mind at ease as you plan from afar. As I talked about in detail in my recent FAQ post, the location of your planner doesn’t matter as much as their design and working style – be sure to partner with someone you love!
The idea for this Editorial started with Anna of Urban Petals. We worked together on a beautiful Charleston Wedding (featured here on Martha Stewart Weddings) this year and thought it would be great to do it again. We brought in Heather Payne for photography and bridal styling because her eye and imagery is stunning. We tasked Latia Curtis for hair and makeup (and she brought the most amazing set kit I’ve ever seen) on our stunning model, Carey to create two looks – one modern and sleek and the second was romantic and light. And finally, I brought beautiful paper products from Ink Revival with me which added such a lovely softness.
When I was designing the concept, I was inspired by the soft greens of the Spanish moss and the romance that the South naturally evokes. With that, I wanted to pull in modern details that my couples love. Modern Southern Romance was the goal and I feel like this team brought it to life so perfectly. Here’s an image of one page of the design plan that served as inspiration for our shoot…
I am so thankful for the team at the Montage Hotel for letting us work on property and for this group of ladies that brought their talents together to create a truly special day.
