In August, I had the pleasure of working with the most wonderful couple on a Surprise Backyard Wedding. Barb called me in November of 2017 and let me know that their plan was to surprise their family and friends by getting married at their annual Margarita Party. Ummm obviously I wanted to be a part of this one! A date was set for August and we began working on this awesome day. Throughout the planning process, it was a fine line of making it feel more special (it was their wedding after all!) and not making anyone suspicious. That was certainly a challenge. One of my favorite details to tie back to the theme of the day were the mini Patron shots that were set out during cocktails and then passed during dancing (you can see a how-to right here!)
That day, it poured rain. About one hour before everyone arrived, the skies cleared and we had a gorgeous summer day. I was so thankful for this because we were able to have the ceremony as planned and didn’t have to reinvent the entire event. There were two different bands that played throughout the day and night and at the end of the evening, all of the guests were dancing in the rain, enjoying the music and tequila.
Oh, and guests were genuinely surprised!! While we were worried some might have known in advance, overall the great majority didn’t have a clue and it was amazing 🙂
Congratulations to the Newlyweds – it was an honor working with you on this day and I’m so happy to have been a part of it all!
